Aus einem Tinder-Date entsteht eine übergreifende Bewegung: Das harmlose erste Treffen von Queen und Slim in einem Diner nimmt eine dramatische Wendung, als sie von einem Polizisten aus dem Verkehr gezogen und in rassistischer Manier ungerechtfertigt und besonders brutal belästigt werden. In Notwehr tötet Slim den Beamten, und anstatt sich zu stellen, begeben Queen und Slim sich auf eine rasante Flucht. Nun sind die beiden, die sich kaum kennen, als landesweit gesuchte Cop-Killer urplötzlich nirgendwo mehr sicher. Doch erhalten sie bald von vielen Seiten Unterstützung – als moderne Inkarnation von Bonnie und Clyde und als unfreiwilliges Symbol der Black Lives Matter-Bewegung.
